IF YOU LIKE BOUNCING!

Sacrilege: Jeremy Deller

For one day only, Britain's best known ancient landmark arrives in Milton Keynes, one of Britains newest cities . . .

Sacrilege is a life-sized inflatable replica of Stonehenge for people to bounce on, by Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller. It will be located between Pencarrow Place and Pentewan Gate in Fishermead, just behind Xscape in Central Milton Keynes.

Deller's Sacrilege is lots of fun, very playful and will capture people's hearts, minds and inner child. It's aimed at all ages and is also a light-hearted way for people to think about one of the UK's most iconic historic monuments, adding to the excitement of the country hosting the 2012 Games.

Jeremy Deller says "A lot of my work deals with history, and Sacrilege is no exception, this is a way to get reacquainted with ancient Britain - with your shoes off."

Visting Sacrilege and having a bounce is free - come along, take a photo of yourself and your friends on the installation and 'offer your image to the gods' by uploading your photos via Flickr.

'Bouncers' are being encouraged to download free ‘Druid Beards’ from the Sacrilege website - why not colour them in and arrive in druid fancy dress?

If you would like to visit Sacrilege and arrange to bring a group of people, please let the Festival know here. School groups are very welcome.

Please note: Sacrilege has a capacity of approximately 100. The bouncing area is not high off the ground though children under 12 are to be accompanied by an adult (the number of children per adult is open and adults do not have to bounce!). There is no minimum age limit. Stewards are on-site at all times.

Access: There is an access area with a crash pad where people with disabilities can be assisted onto the bouncing area. Please assess your own ability to use the bouncer and go on with a carer if necessary – there will be no further assistance on the bouncing area.

Parking: Please park near Xscape

Sacrilege is a co-commission between the Mayor of London and Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art. The work was enormously popular when it appeared in Glasgow earlier this year, supported by Creative Scotland, and with support from Arts Council England it will be touring around the country as part of the London 2012 Festival. In London, Sacrilege is being presented by the Mayor of London and the London 2012 Festival as part of Surprises, which sees new work suddenly appearing at different locations.
