In the meantime, here are some amazing facts about the 2014 Festival:

  • 25,000 tickets sold making this the largest audience yet
  • 140,000 attendances at free events
  • 190,000 people encountered pop-up and roving installations
  • 143 performances presented 
  • 267 professional artists were presented from 8 countries
  • 4 new commissions were produced: Under The Vaulted Sky by Rosemary Lee, The lock shift songs by Kaffe Matthews, Equinox by Jackie Kay and Falling by Melanie Pappenheim
  • 39% more tickets sold than for the Festival in 2012
  • 81% of tickets sold were to new customers
  • 65% of the programme was free to experience
  • Over £7.4 million economic impact
  • Over £1 million - the value of PR and social media coverage  
  • 725 hotel bedroom nights were booked for artists, crew and staff
  • 117 volunteers were involved over the 10 days
  • 2 years was the time taken for Artist-in-Residence Rosemary Lee to create Under The Vaulted Sky featuring over 100 people - the youngest aged 8, the oldest aged 80
  • The Festival opened on the hottest day of the year and 10 days of sunshine followed!
