The runaway hit of the Edinburgh International Festival 2016 and a compelling fable for our modern world, Wind Resistance is created, written and performed by multi-award-winning singer-songwriter, Karine Polwart.
Every autumn, 2,500 pink-footed geese fly from Iceland and Greenland to winter at Fala Flow, a protected peat-bog south-east of Edinburgh.
From this windy plateau, Karine surveys the surrounding landscape through history, birdlore and personal memoir. Ideas of sanctuary, maternity, goose skeins, Scottish football legend, conservation and medieval medicine all take flight in a spellbinding alchemy of song and story, with potent lighting and electro-acoustic effects.
Winner of the BBC2 Folk Award 2018 for Folk Singer Of The Year.
Nominated for Best New Play, Best Production, Best Director and was Winner of Best Music & Sound at the CATS (Critic’s Awards for Theatre in Scotland) 2017.
Karine was also shortlisted for Best Actor in the Sunday Herald Culture Awards.
