Return to the obligation to wear safety goggles from 01.03.2025
Consequences of the failed pilot project

Dear Partners,
Unfortunately, the pilot project for exemption from the obligation to wear protective goggles at MEYER WERFT has not proved successful. An evaluation of the accident statistics shows that an increased number of accidents occur due to foreign bodies in the eye. This figure is well above an acceptable level and makes it clear that additional protective measures are required to ensure the health and safety of employees.
In view of this alarming development, MEYER WERFT is forced to take measures to improve accident prevention. Therefore, the general obligation to wear protective goggles will come into force again from 01.03.2025. This decision is necessary to reduce the number of eye injuries and to increase safety at work.
As part of the reintroduction of the protective goggles requirement, existing instructions and work rules will also be thoroughly reviewed. If necessary, these will be revised to ensure that protective measures are clear, practical and effective.
MEYER WERFT appeals to everyone to take the new requirements seriously and actively implement them. Together we can help to reduce accidents at work and create a safe working environment.
Failure to comply with the obligation to wear protective goggles will be penalized in accordance with the sanctioning process.
We kindly ask you to share this message with your employees and subcontractors and to point out the compliance with this regulation from 01.03.2025.
Thank you for your cooperation and support!
Kind regards
MEYER WERFT GmbH
