Candidates are required to choose an example of existing client work that relates to one of our 2018 categories, and submit this (with all names and personally identifiable information included therein redacted) as their entry. Along with their entry, candidates will be allowed to provide up to 300 words to describe how their work fits the criteria we have outlined for each category.
Each submission will be marked against the international financial planning standards set by the Financial Planning Standards Board. Those standards allow some flexibility for varying answers and styles; there is no set correct answer to the questions & case studies because in the financial planning process each planner will approach the same problem differently.
Up to five candidates will be shortlisted in each category. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to attend face-to-face interviews at the Financial Times head office in London. Prior to these interviews, candidates will be sent a short case study relating to the category for which they have been shortlisted. The interviews will revolve around questions based on the case study, but no written work will be required.
Interview dates: Tuesday 4 September and Thursday 13 September
All shortlisted candidates will receive an invitation to the awards (Thursday 18 October) and will be provided with a logo to show that they were shortlisted, which can then be used on company websites, letterheads, email signatures and other items as appropriate.
