PotReg is the potential regeneration (number of seedlings/saplings in a 5-m radius plot) when the other effects (i.e., climatic, density, and distance effects) are at optimal values (Eq. 1); XA0, and XAb controls the variation of seedling/sapling density along the altitudinal gradient (Eq. 2); XR0, and XRb controls the variation of seedling/sapling density along the radiation gradient (Eq. 2); XD0, and XDb controls the variation of seedling/sapling density along the stand density gradient (Eq. 3); when the γ parameter is listed, then for that species the stand density effect varies as a funcion of local climate (Eq. 4); α and β controls the shape of the function describring response of Q. ilex seedlings and saplings to distance from seed sources (Eq. 5); and pz is the abundance of structural or supplementary zeros in the zero-inflated Poisson distribution (Eq. 6).
