   FIG. A1. Experimental setup to test the local and systemic responses of potatoes (Solanum tuberosum cv. Pastusa Suprema) to infestation of potato tuber moth larvae (Tecia solanivora). The experiment consisted of a control treatment where the focal tuber was left undamaged, and larvae-treated plants where the focal tuber was subjected to damage by 20 tuber moth larvae. In both cases the focal tuber was covered by a black cloth to prevent greening and other changes in primary and secondary metabolism.
