Table B1. Leaf litter C:N and N:P ratios for each of the 12 tree species growing in different land cover class. Forest canopy cover derived from aerial photos taken in 1936: 2 = 20–50%, 3 = 50–80% and 4=80–100% forest cover. Litter of T. heterophylla was not found in baskets in cover class 4. Successional status determined from Thompson et al. (2002).

The distribution and composition of the LFDP soil meant that the majority of leaf litter was collected from baskets in Zarzal (86 out of 120) or Cristal (29 out of 120) soils with only 2 baskets in fluvaquents and 3 in Prieto (Appendix B: Fig. 1). Blank cells indicate that no leaf material was collected in baskets for that soil type.
