Hi Jackie,
Glad to hear that you have arrived Toronto safely. Thank you very much again for giving me the opportunity to see you again and learn from you. Attached, please find my translations for your works.
I would like to thank how much you made my part easier. You sent me the manuscript well in advance so that I can prepare. You set up the time to practice the lecture together. And at the seminar, the way you talked in the lecture and in the discussion was just perfect for translation. So, thank you very much.
What I meant in the sentence in my original email was that I experienced a difficulty to translate when someone kept talking without any break and not in a logical manner. I think we donât always talk logically in daily conversations â and itâs okay to talk and think it aloud to explore new ideas. But I faced a difficulty to give simultaneous translation for those talks. For these moments, I wondered if I should have waited for people to completely stop talking and to just give a summary.
Partially due to this difficulty, I donât think I could have done a perfect job to translate from Japanese to English for you. I will see what I can do differently in the future.
Again, I truly appreciate your consideration of my part and you were the most prepared lecturer Iâve ever worked for translation. Thank you for being so considerate.
Best, Miwa

HI, Miwa. We're gradually getting our sleep patterns back to normal and there are lots of jobs to do. I am wondering what you meant by "sometimes people kept talking without clearly following a logic" . I always try to see what could be done better the next time. So you have any suggestions? Also, would you send me the lecture with the translation in it? Thank You. I look forward to seeing you in January. Have a good holiday in Japan. Love, Jackie ![]()

Jackie, it was such a pleasure to have an opportunity to work with you. Thank you again for giving me this opportunity. People were really engaged and they generated good questions. Some people came to tell me afterwards how exciting your lecture was â and people came from all across Japan (including Okinawa!!). That shows how successful your lecture was!
I am not a professional translator and sometimes people kept talking without clearly following a logic â so, Iâm sure that there were times translation was not perfect. I appreciate your careful listening and answering all the questions in a very concise, logical and yet very informative manner.
It was such a pleasure to meet Bill â his warm presence and humor made me and others relaxed and smile. Thank you very much for participating in todayâs seminar, Bill. And sorry I couldnât include you for the talks in Japanese.
Please enjoy your rest of the trip! If you face any troubles, please feel free to give me a call (070-5595-5119) or email me.
All the Best, Miwa
