An exhibition that begins this summer in the city of L’Aquila and in its complex
location, has shown how contemporary art can explain the meaning of a territory
and, at the same time, all the territories we live in. Here the reason is because we
have proposed here “Atmospheres.” The youngest among the selected artists in the
exhibition set up in the windows of L’Aquila’s abandoned city center, to show once
again their artistic point of view about their respective experiences living in this
place. We’ve made “voyagers” such suggestions, such visions, and moved the work
from the place for which they were made, here in Villa Filippini starting a dialogue
with each other. The exhibition in L’Aquila, named “The market of the Spirits,” is the
brainchild of the Fuori Scala, an association that promotes the initiative through
self-financing. This second edition, however, birthed the collaboration with Bice
Bugatti Club, which has supported the organizers glimpsing the power and the
originality of the initiative. Atmosphere is, therefore, a series set in Tracce in Villa.
A challenging installation and conceptual research.

Eight artists and eight differing visions with a common denominator: coexistence
in space. Some artists cite nature, same transform it, others take given objects and
make them immaterial or indiscernible in the surrounding space; there are even
those who simply take the title of a work and define and interpret it.
Pragmatic visions assert themselves in various artistic languages. Describing, pain-
ting, taking photos: such distinctions refer to the ways in which fantasy cooperates
with perception in staging experience. This exhibition considers the contents of the
double object”: tools, armor useful for intellectual battle, the discovery of space.
Here are stories of work, work engaged in the narration of objects, of daily icons,
of our needs and of characteristic signs.
Experience both expression of will and search for meaning. Nothing is obvious.
As in the Commedia dell’Arte, the birth and evolution of masks and characters
evoke the climate of the time: between jokes and canvases, stories of brushstrokes,
sounds, images, gestures and colors will be told, creating suggestive atmosphe-
res and fascinating environments.
