No Return - Part 2
Part 1)
I stood for a while in the shadow of a hoarding advertising the new school. Heart pounding. And then I ran for it. Over some open ground, and there I was. In the shadow of the school itself. Which had no roof tiles, but apart from that looked disconcertingly solid.
It was really creepy. Silent apart from dripping water. Petrified JCBs casting giant shadows. What if there was a security guard?
There was a blanket crumpled in a corner. Oh God, the place was probably squatted. Or full of kids, drinking beer.
I kept hearing small noises.
I crept along a wall past doors which seemed to go on forever, much longer than I remembered. There was discarded metal fencing underfoot, which clanged and made me jump.
I remembered that abandoned buildings and darkened doorways scare the shit out of me. As does being alone outside in the dark. Help!
I wanted my mummy.
I shone the torch through the glass in the locked door, expecting to see the internal quadrangle.
Oh!
