Sturgess Volvo
Energy Efficiency
Description and aims
The Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development works with partners to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. This includes promoting and supporting energy efficiency in businesses through teaching, technology transfer, research and consultancy. This recent example of Sturgess Volvo demonstrates the potential for energy savings from the installation of automatic intelligent metering working with the Leicester Energy agency.
About Sturgess Volvo
Sturgess Volvo is a car dealership in Leicester; part of the Sturgess Motor Group.
How the project is being undertaken
The project aims to demonstrate the potential for energy, carbon and cost savings from automatic intelligent metering through the analysis of electricity, gas and water data recorded every half hour.
Electricity, gas and water data are recorded every half hour and the data then analysed. The potential energy and water saving opportunities are then identified from the analysis of the data and presented to the business. The project also includes energy awareness raising training materials.
Impacts and benefits
Anticipated results of the project include:
- Energy cost, consumption and related carbon dioxide savings of 10-25%
- Increased awareness of staff to energy efficiency and carbon dioxide emission reduction technologies
