DTZ had, for some time, recognised the value of coaching and the benefits it could deliver within the organisation. In order to extend the reach of coaching across the company there was a need to develop its internal coaching capability whilst reducing the reliance on external coaches. A number of the Learning & Development team already had experience of, and an ability to implement, a coaching culture. It was identified however that to position a credible internal provision would require the underpinning of previous knowledge with a professional qualification.

The demands of the business meant that a residential or ongoing day release programme was not an option; however the benefits of cohort networking and the availability of academic and professional references to support participants were not an area which DTZ felt could be sacrificed.

With a large work force undertaking varied and disparate activities essential to effective and efficient business operations, the HR function must ensure that the Company attracts, develops and retains the most able people. This requires a well informed, talented and skilled team of HR professionals. To ensure that the UK HR function develops, and can strategically demonstrate appropriate skills, it was determined that all HR personnel should be graduate members of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). A university was sought to provide:

  • An accredited CIPD programme tailored to meet the flexible learning needs of the dispersed HR team
  • A delivery approach which would bring together a group of HR managers to share experience, develop collaborative learning skills and network effectively.

Wright Plastics

The aim of this project was to develop a range of unique baby feeding products with a particular emphasis on resource efficiency. In particular the aim was to develop a range of products that could utilise smart materials in the management of heat for parents who are continually on the go and which could heat baby food and drink. Health and safety prevents restaurant staff from heating baby food and drink on behalf of parents, at best they will provide access to a microwave oven.
