Gressingham Foods
Sustainable Waste Management
The company breeds, hatches, grows and processes its duck products within a small area of East Anglia. Its factory is based within a three-acre site in rural Suffolk and its farms represent a total of 300 acres. Gressingham Foods is a family-run SME (small to medium-sized enterprise) operating in a highly competitive market. The company recognised the need for greater efficiencies and a more streamlined and modern approach to its business. Gressingham Foods looked to The University of Northampton and the School of Applied Sciences for guidance. The aim was to design and implement an environmental strategy which would reduce waste and result in greater efficiencies and cost savings.
Hambleside Danelaw
Product Design
In 2004, Hambleside Danelaw Ltd identified a gap in the market they wished to exploit, namely an in-plane rooflight to suit standing seam cladding and roofing systems. This particular system was becoming increasingly popular due to its ability to offer greater flexibility to architects in designing curved roofs, for example, rather than traditionally pitched roofs. Furthermore, the company’s market research revealed that none its competitors were offering these systems as part of their product range.
Northampton Probation Service
The Probation Service received support from The University of Northampton’s Careers Service to recruit a Summer Placement to their Information Technology Department. The Careers Service advised them on how to approach the task, how to tailor their vacancy to suit their intended audience, how to structure their message and then communicate that message in the most efficient and cost effective manner. The Northampton Careers Service handled the student facing communication, working closely with both the client and the applicants throughout the application and interview stages.
Solutions Group
Performance Management
The company had outgrown its existing software and communications systems. As a result, efficiency and customer service were beginning to suffer. In a highly competitive market, it was imperative for Solutions Group to improve efficiency and the flow of information between its depots, head office and customers.
The project aimed to develop and implement s new organisational system to meet the company’s future growth and business plans. The MBS Navision Attain software was selected and then greatly enhanced and customised before being implemented with a new network system.
