Enterprise Rent-A-Car
Description and aims
A car-hire company is not immediately seen by students and graduates as an exciting career option. However, once students and graduates realise that Enterprise Rent-A-Car is a very successful multi-national company offering attractive career progression opportunities and not just a local car-rental outfit, they are very keen to apply for its vacancies. Enterprise Rent-A-Car works hard and successfully with the Career Development Centre to raise its profile with talented students and graduates in order to maintain its pool of quality applicants.
About Enterprise Rent-A-Car
Enterprise Rent-A Car is a multi-national organisation that has grown to be the largest car rental company in North America with a significant business base in the UK and Europe. Enterprise is known for its world-class customer service and its dedication to developing and advancing its staff. Most graduates progress to be team leaders running their own parts of the business.
How the project is being undertaken
The Career Development Centre communicates regularly with the Group Training Manager to include Enterprise Rent-A-Car in its employer events and to respond to the company’s special requests. Since 2004 Enterprise has:
- delivered skills and awareness workshops on campus
- brought in the company information stand
- taken part in careers fairs
- been a pioneer participant in online careers fairs and live online chats with students
- supplied mentors for the Employer Mentoring Scheme.
Enterprise has also agreed to take part in the pilot for the Career Development Centre’s permanent online employer exhibition.
Impacts and benefits
Since most of the Career Development Centre’s free employer services are accessible to students and graduates from other universities, engaging with the service has maintained a high-level of visibility for the company across the East Midlands, ensuring a steady supply of quality applications to its undergraduate placement scheme and its graduate training programme.
