The guidelines below are general rules that should be followed when posting Twitter messages.
-
There is a maximum limit of 140 characters for each tweet – try to use only one tweet for each message as
multiple messages may not be displayed together (it depends on the software being used).
-
Short, straightforward sentences will help readers to understand your communication quickly and clearly.
- Use simple words in place of long or unusual words, which can confuse readers.
- Use contractions, e.g. 'you're' instead of 'you are' as this will reduce the characters.
- You can use abbreviations provided it is clear what you mean, eg uni instead of university.
-
If you're adding a link in your message, use http://ow.ly/ to shorten the URL.
- Add your initials at the end of the message to indicate who you are.
-
Please use the UCAS house style for dates,
times etc:
-
Dates – follow the day-month-year sequence in the following format: Thursday 20 September 2016. If the
date needs to be shortened use: 20 Sept 2016, 20/09/2016 or 20/09/16.
-
Times – use the 24 hour clock with (UK time) following. e.g. You can call our Customer Experience Centre from 08:30 to 18:00 (UK time)
-
Capitalisation – see the Capitalisation advice for guidance.
