CMS and other opensource for e-learning

logo

The panorama of the Content Management System software or the Learning Management System, is notably wide and includes open source and proprietary solutions as well. Differently from the authoring tools, the CMS / LMS are only server side software that do not give any sense to a local installation in one computer because they give a service for community of learners, allow communication, sharing and are used to organize the e-learning objects.
This aspect is important to understand the shift from a not online collaborative and not online social education to an holistic approach where the learning effectiveness take advantage by the social interaction, by the possibility to communicate, comment, to have feedbacks and to improve the peer learning effects etc.
In the panorama of the open source solutions that can be implemented there are many platform that are suitable for the Kyrgyz needs and many of them are very similar. In this case, the solution that seems more adequate is Moodle (https://moodle.org), the largest open source community that own a platform installed more than sixty thousand times in two hundreds and twenty countries (https://moodle.net/stats).
